April brings so many changes. As winter gives way to spring, we have warmer days, breezes (okay its windy), rain, hail, corn snow, gardens and grass starting to turn green, and spring break trips to the coast for some beach action. That’s what happens in New Mexico in spring. We also have the first official SWMS race of the year. Wahoo! April 15/16 is Spring Time in the Desert – Race #1 at Suika Circuit (formally Sandia Speedway). Dust off your race car, finish all that routine maintenance, and come out to the track for the race. This 2-day event features a full slate of all racing divisions including Contemporary, Vintage, Spec Miata, Open Wheel, HPDE, Karts, and Legends (some classes may be combined due to car count). Plan for the driver's meeting to be held at 8:30AM both days with workers and drivers to the track shortly after. SWMS is offering HPDE / Competition License Schools at this event. For information related to our school offerings, contact Steve Marino (steve@smarino.us). Workers that are planning to attend, please coordinate with Tom Wolicki (alte.gurke@gmail.com). We really appreciate your support of SWMS. Drivers and team members cannot thank all our volunteer workers enough for all that you do to help keep the races safe and running efficiently. Thank you! Our race chair for this event is Larry Hanes (lhaynes99@gmail.com). Feel free to reach out to him for any questions. Register for the race on MSR. It’s easy and quick. Weekend cost will be $325 for cars (racing or HPDE) and $225 for karts. Single day costs are $175 cars and $125 karts. SWMS strong preference is for each entrant to use MSR to register and pay for the event. While registering, please take a minute and update or fill out your profile. SWMS needs all the car and transponder information so that we can provide it to our registrar and timing/scoring. See you at Suika Circuit!
